(Ephesians 2:11-22 “demolition”)

OPENING QUESTION:

1. How far back can you trace your family’s roots in the ?  From where did your ancestors emigrate to the ?
2. How patriotic are you?  (Do you get choked up at the national anthem, or do you not care too much?  Why?)

DIGGING DEEPER:

1. READ Ephesians 2:11-22.
2. In verse 11, we discover that the Jewish people had a nickname for the non-Jewish people.  What was it? 
3. In what ways might this nickname have been harmful to the non-Jewish people?
4. According to verse 13, what did Jesus do to fix the rift between Jewish people and non-Jewish people?
5. How can Jesus’ blood bring people together?
6. We learned on Sunday that the “dividing wall of hostility” (v. 14) was a literal wall in the Jewish temple through which only Jewish men of good standing were allowed to cross.  (not even Jewish women were permitted in!!)  What kind of impact do you think this had on the worship experience that people had in the temple?
7. Are there any “dividing walls” in the modern Christian church?  What are they?
8. Verses 19-22 offer two word pictures to illustrate the unity that we have in Christ.  The first is a picture of a family.  The second is a picture of a building.  Which one means the most to you?  Why?

GETTING CLOSER:

1. What relationship in your life still has walls that need to be knocked down?
2. How will that happen?
3. How might God use our Life group to break down the social barriers which exist in our region?

1. Break up into to prayer partners.  Have people pray for one another’s broken relationships one on one.
