Girl Scout Sunday is Sunday, March 7th
March 12th marks the 98th anniversary of Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. In South Windsor, near the time of the birthday of GSUSA, all Girl Scouts are invited to participate in a service at their place of worship to fulfill one part of the Girl Scout Promise: “On my honor, I will try to serve God ...” To earn badges, New River Girl Scouts will be helping in a variety of ways during our March 7th service.
Reverend Bush, District Superintendent of the Christian & Missionary Alliance for New England, is retiring after 12 years. The C&MA is asking all district churches in New England to send a Love Offering for him. If you want to bless him in this way, please mark “Reverend Bush” on your offering envelope and submit it by April 4th. The C&MA is also collecting personal notes to Reverend Bush. If he impacted you during one of the many times he visited with us (John Nichols’ ordination, Holy Spirit Weekend 2009, Servant Team meetings, etc.), please take a moment to write down your story, put it in an envelope with “Reverend Bush” written on it and place it into the offering plate. Let us pray for Reverend Bush and his family as he begins a new chapter in his life.
There will be NO Grow Zone classes
(Toddlers thru 5th grade) on Palm Sunday, 3/28,
so that everyone can watch the Easter Play.
Parents, please bring your kids into service with you.
There WILL be Nursery help for kids under 2,
simply drop them off in the library before service as usual.
MEN'S SOFTBALL TEAM FORMING
We would like to put together a men’s softball team to play in the SW Rec “C” League. This is a great opportunity for New River to have a presence in the community. The season runs from May through August, with 1-2 games per week (Mon - Thur). We need at least 15 men, age 18+, to make up the team. The cost is $60 to register. Please contact Joe Alarcon at 860-281-9600 by March 17th.
WANT TO JOIN THE HOSPITALITY TEAM?
New River’s newly forming Hospitality Team has a need for Greeters, Ushers,
Welcome Table helpers, Coffee Table helpers, and Set-Up/Tear Down workers.
If it is on your heart to serve on this vital and exciting group, please contact Aaron Eaton at 860-512-0304 or aceandtina@comcast.net.

PRAYING TOGETHER
We finished our 2009 study "The Year of Prayer", but that doesn't mean that we will not be focusing on prayer in 2010. In fact, we would like to dedicate an area of our bulletin to prayer requests from you. Please submit any prayer requests to Kate Skaff at secretary@newriverchurch.org. Received requests will be published in the next week's bulletin. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask Pastor Doug.
NURSERY VOLUNTEERS 3/14:
Sarah Kerendian
Thank you for your willingness to serve God’s children!
WANT PRAYER?
We have a team of people who love to pray for others. If you have a prayer need, please see one of our pastors (Doug Rowse or Diego Florez) today and they can introduce you to our prayer team. You do not need to carry your needs alone. Let us do it with you. |
