II Corinthians 10:3-5 “Weapons”

OPENING QUESTION:

1. Which tool from your tool box do you use the most around your home? 

DIGGING DEEPER:

1. READ II Corinthians 10:1-6.
2. Based on verses 1 and 2, what kind of accusations do you think people in Corinth were making towards the Apostle Paul?
3. How do you think those accusations affected Paul?
4. What kind of “fight” was Paul expecting to get in to when he arrived in Corinth ?
5. It appears as though people in the Corinth church were bad mouthing Paul and discrediting his ministry.  This is how the world fights!  It is “dog-eat-dog”!  But what “weapons” can a Christian use to fight such a battle?
6. Strongholds were the high towers at the corners of city walls.  The walls were literally connected to the stronghold.  So if you tore down the stronghold, you would bring down the city wall.  What kinds of strongholds appear in our souls?
7. Why is taking every thought captive an essential part of the battle?
8. It is not always easy to see the spiritual battle.  What are some ways that we can train our “spiritual eyes” to see this battle?

GETTING CLOSER:

1. I Corinthians 12:10 tells us that one of the spiritual gifts God has blessed His church with is the ability to discern spirits.  Some Christians have this ability and it is invaluable in counseling and praying with someone in need.  Does anyone in your group possibly have this gift?  How do you know?
2. If while praying for you, someone mentioned that they sensed something spiritual going on, how would you react?  Why?

1. Let’s pray for one another.  Before praying, ask the Holy Spirit to help you as you pray.
