“MOMS ROCK!”  Mother’s Day, 2009

OPENING QUESTION:

1. Share one funny story about your mother. 
2. Share a story about something you did which you think your Mother never knew about. 

DIGGING DEEPER:

1. READ Exodus 1:22-2:10
2. Why did Moses’ mother go against the king’s edict?
3. There certainly were other Jewish women who lost their baby boys.  How do you think they may have reacted to the choice that Moses’ mother made?
4. How difficult do you think it was for his mom to give Moses up for “adoption”?
5. What kinds of things could Pharaoh’s daughter give to Moses that his own mother could not?
6. Moses would have been about 5 years old when his mother finished weaning him.  That is old enough to remember his parent’s household!  What kind of impact might this have had on his young life as he transitioned to living in the royal family?

GETTING CLOSER:

1. If you are a parent, talk about some of the tough choices you have had to make to benefit your children.
2. What tough choices did your own parents make in raising you?
3. All of us have imperfect parents.  All of us have scars brought on by the mistakes our parents made in raising us.  How can we pray for each other’s scars tonight?

PRAYER

1. Pray in two ways tonight.  First, lets give thanks to God for the parents He gave us.  Second, let’s pray for any scars which may still be there in our lives as a result of having imperfect parents.
