OPENING QUESTIONS:

1. As a church, we are preparing for “Covenant Sunday” on February 7.  In preparation for that, we are looking at the covenant which we will be asked to sign. 
2. What is the nastiest food you have ever eaten? (I’ve eaten smoked termites.  And I had frog legs once!)

GOING DEEPER:

1. Read I Corinthians 10:1-14.
2. After reminding the Corinthians of the discipline needed to “run the race” (9:24-27), Paul turns to this example from ’s past.  Why were these reminders necessary?
3. In the church, baptism and communion are two of our most cherished sacraments.  Notice that verses 2-3 connect with these two sacraments.  What point do you think Paul is making by showing that baptism and eating manna, failed to protect from God’s anger?
4. In verses 7-10, four sins are mentioned from ’s past.  What four are mentioned?
5. Why do you think Paul chose these four examples from ’s history?  Could there be any connection with what the Corinthian church was going through?
6. According to verse 12 what is the point of this teaching?
7. Are we really in danger of falling?  Why or why not?
8. How does the truth of verse 13 help to keep us from falling?

A LOOK AT OUR COVENANT:

We will work to help our church grow…  

…by inviting my unchurched friends to come with me to life group, and celebration services. (Luke 14:23)  

…by warmly welcoming those who visit my church. (Colossians 4:5)  

…by using the abilities and talents God has given me to minister in my church. (I Peter 4:9-11)  

…by giving back to God a biblical portion of my income to support my church. (Leviticus 27:30)

 …by being a good testimony in my community.
