Karen Adrian's Car Accident Testimony

Yesterday, as I was driving down I-84 West on my way to Sears to buy Ahjeiza her 3 Kings Day gift, another car tried to get onto my lane and she hit the rear of my pickup. In doing so, the car rolled over three or four times landing on the hood of the cabin and sliding 50 yards until it came to a stop. I remember having my eyes open the whole time watching as glass and gravel filled the car with every turn. I kept my hands on the wheel and was screaming until the car finally came to a stop on the right shoulder of the highway. I was upside down, held up by the seatbelt (which saved my life). The window on the driver's side had been smashed and I could feel the cool air. I stuck my hand out and called for help, watching as cars slowly passed by. I called out again, now in worry and desperation that no one would come help me. Finally a woman in a white car lowered her window and said help was on its way. I wanted to cry, but didn't (I don't know why). I tried to unbuckle my seatbelt but it was stuck so I called out again.

Finally I saw some legs and I felt relief. An elderly man (I know he was elderly not because I saw his face but because his arms were wrinkled) took my hand and asked me if I was okay. I said I was and that I just wanted to get out but was stuck with the seatbelt. Someone behind him said that I needed to get out of the car because gas was leaking. I despaired and said, "Please don't tell me that!" I felt for the seatbelt again and was finally able to loosen it up. I fell onto the roof of my car with a thump. I was more relieved that I was loose than worried that I was injured. I pulled myself out of the car through the open window and was being pulled out by the men who came to help me. As I was being pulled out I saw my cellphone and took it (worried that I would have to call Genaro and tell him that I had crashed our other car!); I lost one of my shoes in the process.

The men carried me a few yards away from the car and I took a look at my upside down car with the back tires still in motion. I saw a small car a couple of yards away from my car in the right lane and several cars lined up behind the small car in the shoulder. The men put me down and a small Asian woman with a bright red coat approached me crying. "Are you okay?" she asked me and I nodded. And indeed I was fine; shocked but fine. I sat on the grass and asked, "What happened?" That was all I could think of asking. Someone had hit me so hard that it rolled my car over several times. The woman said that she had hit me and that she was sorry. I looked at the small car again, which was hers, and I couldn't believe that the small car had been the culprit of my flip-over; it didn't even look damaged from where I was sitting. Several people came over to me and asked me if I was okay. I nodded and repeated that I was fine.

A black unmarked vehicle arrived with sirens and lights. The officer came over to me and asked me if I was the driver of the over-turned car and I nodded, still seated on the cold grass. I got up as he asked whether I was okay. I nodded and got up. The woman with the red coat kept crying and she cried louder when I noticed that I had blood on my right hand where I held on tight to the cellphone. I repeated to her that I was fine since nothing was hurting. I concluded that the blood must be from minor cuts on my hand.

The EMTs arrived and took care of my handwounds, asking me incessant questions about how I was feeling. A state trooper asked for my information but my purse was still in the car. He said it was still too dangerous to approach and that he'd get my information later. I was placed inside the ambulance where I took off my coat to dress my hand wounds. It was then that I realized my back was aching so I was strapped in tight and sent to the hospital.

In the hospital I was taken to the Trauma Center where the doctors and nurses proceeded to cut through my clothes to evaluate me. They did every test and check up available including ultrasounds and CAT scans, and everything came out negative. The only injury I received were small cuts in my right hand (and I don't exactly know from what). I can only give God all the glory for protecting me and letting me walk away from this accident unharmed!
