CELL MATTERS
Hang Ups: “The reliability of scripture”
OPENING QUESTIONS:
1. What do you think is the oddest story in the bible? Why?
2. Has this story ever caused you, or someone you know to question the authenticity of the bible?
DIGGING DEEPER:
1. READ I Corinthians 2:9-16.
2. Verses 9 and 10 seem to contradict themselves when verse 9 says that “no eye has seen…” and verse 10 says that “God has revealed it to us.” What has God revealed to us?
3. From what you know, what is the difference between the spirit of the world and the Spirit of God?
4. Look at verse 13. What is an example of a “spiritual word”?
5. Why do the things of God seem foolish to a person without the Spirit?(vs. 14)
6. What does verse 15 mean when it says that spiritual man is not subject to anyone’s judgment?
7. Practically speaking, what does verse 16 mean by saying that we have the mind of Christ?
8. Does it take any work on our part to train ourselves to think like Christ?
GETTING PERSONAL:
1. What advice would you give to someone who is struggling to understand the bible?
2. What are some of your hang ups about the bible? Is there anything you doubt? Anything you struggle with?
CLOSING PRAYER:
1. It would be great to close by praying Ephesians 1:18 for one another. Invite people to literally read this verse as a prayer and pray it for each other in the group. May God open the eyes of our hearts that we may understand His word!
