OPENING QUESTION:

1. If you could see one famous person become a Christian, who would it be?  Why?

DIGGING DEEPER:

1. READ I Corinthians 1:17-2:5.
2. Why does the wisdom of the world clash with the message of Jesus?
3. In 1:30 Paul uses four words to describe what Jesus is for Christians.  What are they and how would you explain each one?
4. Are verses 26 and 27 a put down or a lift up to the Corinthians?
5. Why is it important that no boasting be done before God? (1:29)
6. In 2:4 Paul says that his preaching was not with wise words but with a demonstration of power.  The text does not tell us what that demonstration of power looked like exactly.  What do you think happened?

GETTING PERSONAL:

1. In 2:5 Paul explains that he did not want their faith to rest on his preaching but instead to rest on God’s power.  Has your faith ever been dependent on a person’s wisdom?  How so? 
2. In I Corinthians 4:20 Paul says that the Kingdom of God is defined by power not talk.  What has your Christian experience been like, have you experienced more talk or more power? 
3. What barriers stand in our way and keep us from walking in the power that God intended for us to experience?
