Heaven touches Earth, part 6

OPENING QUESTION:

1. They say that “big things come in small packages”.  Can you think of any examples of this from your own life experience?

DIGGING DEEPER:

1. READ Matthew 13:31-35.
2. How was Jesus’ ministry like the mustard seed?
3. What impact does yeast have on a lump of dough?
4. What do these two illustrations tell us about God’s expectations for His Kingdom on earth?

GETTING PERSONAL:

1. We live in an instant society.  (We microwave everything!)  How does this instant thinking impact your faith?  Do you get discouraged when results do not happen quickly?
2. How do these two parables encourage us when we are feeling like things are not happening fast enough?
3. Let’s evaluate the difference you are making.  Can you see any changes in your neighborhood, school or work place since you moved in?  (Sometimes we focus only on growth we also need to look at influence.)

PRAYER TIME:

            Pray for one another’s impact in our homes, work places and neighborhoods. 

LOOKING OUT:

            Have you thought of doing a free car wash as a group?  Or perhaps bake some bread and take it to some of your neighbors whom you do not see very often. 

            As we approach the Fall, this is a good time to invite new people to your group.  One thing that helps is to plan a six week study with a special focus like child rearing, or marriage or finances, etc.  Then invite friends to join you and your group for the study!
