“awaken THIRST”

Heaven touches Earth, part 7

OPENING QUESTION:

What is the most money that you have ever found? What did you do with it?

DIGGING DEEPER:

READ Matthew 13:44-46.
Jesus says that the Kingdom of Heaven is a “treasure”. Do you think that most people think of “treasure” when they think of the Kingdom? Why or why not?
Which of these two word pictures (treasure, pearl) do you connect with the best? Why?
Let’s looking at the merchant searching for pearls. The word “pearls” is also translated as “proverbs”. This man was on a quest for spiritual truth. When he found Jesus, “THE Pearl”, he forsook all others to have Jesus. What kinds of “truths” did you cling to before you found Jesus? What attracted you to those “truths”?

GETTING PERSONAL:

On a 10 scale, how much would you say that you treasure the Kingdom of God?
What kinds of things tend to cool down our interest in God’s Kingdom?
What can you do to increase your passion for the Kingdom?

PRAYER TIME:

In prayer, let’s make a fresh commitment as a group to pursue Jesus with all our strength. What would that look like for us as a group?
