OPENING QUESTIONS:

1. As a church, we just celebrated our annual Covenant Sunday.  “Covenant” is not a word we use everyday, so let’s begin by talking about different covenants that affect our lives. (ie.-marriage, labor contracts, insurance contracts, etc.)
2. What is the value of a covenant? 

GOING DEEPER:

1. Read Matthew 18:15-20.
2. What steps does Jesus say we need to take if someone sins against us?
3. What can happen if this kind of thing is not dealt with?
4. What does it mean to treat someone as a “pagan”?
5. What does it mean to “bind” and “loosen” things on earth and heaven?
6. According to verse 19, our agreement is very powerful.  God is even moved by it!  What is the connection between a covenant and agreement?  (Can you agree without a covenant?  Can you have a covenant without agreement?)
7. What does genuine agreement look like?

GETTING PERSONAL:

1. Signing an annual covenant is the way that our church has chosen to express membership as a church.  What does it mean to you to be a “member” of a church?
2. Do you believe that membership is important?  Why or why not?
