The gospel of Matthew tells us to seek first the Kingdom of Heaven. However, many of us don’t think of the Kingdom as having great value, so we don’t put seeking it on our high priority list. As we look at two more parables from the gospel of Matthew, Jesus shares that the Kingdom is more valuable then anything else; worth dropping everything else to chase after. It’s obvious to most any Christian that God is very powerful and able to do great things. In my mind His greatness is accompanied by miraculous sings and wonders of huge proportions. As we learned from the first of Jesus’ parables in Matthew 13 last week, there is a direct correlation between how we respond to God and how we experience His Kingdom here on earth. In the next parable Jesus warns us that there will be challenges as we respond to Him. Those challenges come in the form of evil doers planted among us by Satan, referred to as “the weeds”. Jesus did not preach salvation. He preached the Kingdom of God. He invited people to join His Kingdom here on earth, to begin living the Heavenly life right here in the world. “On earth as it is in Heaven” was His heart’s cry. How you and I respond to Jesus and His teaching makes all the difference between hell on earth or heaven on earth. The choice is ours, how will you respond?
Today we look at how we can bring God’s promises to the world. Throughout the bible, God makes a multitude of promises to His people, like healing, salvation, joy, provision and on and on. As Christians, we carry God’s promises with us and share them with the needy no matter where we go. Join us as we strive to offer our firm support, or amen, of God’s promises.
Raising children to follow Christ is a hard job for dads. It’s difficult because of the inherent sin nature in all of us which keeps pulling our kids off the narrow path. Additionally, there are lies that men struggle with because of fear that lead to fathers letting go of the spiritual wheel. But Jesus is very clear when He tells us to seek out God’s Kingdom and His will for our lives first. God can and will take care of all the rest and provide what He knows you need. So do not fear, trust in Jesus. He knows your struggles, and He still loves you and wants to save you.
